Privacy Policy

Finance is a personal finance app for the Mac and the iPhone made by Ivan Dakhin. It is built so that your financial data stays yours: the developer has no servers, no accounts and no way to see what you enter.

What the app stores, and where

Everything you enter — accounts, categories, transactions, notes, tags, receipts, pictures of categories and the names of people you attach to transactions — is stored:

  • on your Mac or your iPhone, inside the app’s own protected storage;
  • in your private iCloud database (Apple’s CloudKit), if you are signed in to iCloud on the device. It is part of your Apple Account; the developer cannot read it. Apple’s privacy policy applies to data kept in iCloud.

Your settings are kept on your device and in iCloud in the same way.

Before the first sync with iCloud, if there is already data on your device, the app makes one copy of it in a Backups folder beside it, inside the app’s own folder (on the iPhone, its own storage), so that the first sync can’t lose anything. The copy stays there until you delete it or delete the app.

What the developer collects

Nothing. Finance has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no third-party code that sends data anywhere.

When the app uses the network

  • iCloud, to keep your data the same on your Mac and your iPhone.
  • Exchange rates: if an account is in a currency other than your main currency (Settings → Main currency), the app downloads the public list of official exchange rates from the National Bank of Ukraine (bank.gov.ua). If that list can’t be reached or doesn’t include a currency you use, it asks the public list of rates of Monobank (api.monobank.ua) instead. The app has no connection to your bank accounts. The request contains nothing about you or your data. Like any website, the server sees the IP address the request comes from.

Contacts

You can attach a person to a transaction. You choose the person in the system’s contact picker, and the app saves the person’s name and a reference to their card in your Contacts with the transaction (in the same places as the rest of your data). On the Mac, if you allow access to Contacts, the app shows the photos of the people you have attached; it reads nothing else. The iPhone app reads only what you pick in the picker and asks for no access to Contacts. It sends nothing from your Contacts to the developer or anyone else.

Files

The app reads only the files you choose (a receipt, a picture) and writes only where you tell it to (an export, a backup) — besides the one copy described above, kept in its own folder.

Deleting your data

Delete transactions, accounts and categories in the app; they are removed from your iCloud database too. The copy made before the first iCloud sync is not removed that way: it is in the app’s folder (~/Library/Containers/com.ivandakhin.Finance/Data/Library/Application Support/Backups), and you can delete it in Finder. To remove everything on a Mac, delete the app and that folder (~/Library/Containers/com.ivandakhin.Finance) and, in System Settings → Apple Account → iCloud → Manage, delete the data of Finance. On an iPhone, deleting the app removes what is stored on it, together with the copy; the data in iCloud is deleted in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.

Children

The app doesn’t collect data from anyone, children included.

If this policy changes, the new text is published on this page with a new date.

Finance — застосунок для обліку особистих фінансів на Mac та iPhone, створений Іваном Дахіним. Він зроблений так, щоб ваші фінансові дані лишалися вашими: розробник не має серверів, облікових записів і жодної змоги бачити те, що ви вводите.

Що зберігає застосунок і де

Усе, що ви вводите, — рахунки, категорії, операції, нотатки, теги, чеки, зображення категорій та імена людей, яких ви додаєте до операцій, — зберігається:

  • на вашому Mac чи iPhone, у власному захищеному сховищі застосунку;
  • у вашій приватній базі iCloud (CloudKit від Apple), якщо на пристрої виконано вхід в iCloud. Вона є частиною вашого Apple Account; розробник не може її читати. До даних в iCloud застосовується політика приватності Apple.

Параметри застосунку зберігаються так само: на вашому пристрої та в iCloud.

Перед першою синхронізацією з iCloud, якщо на вашому пристрої уже є дані, застосунок робить одну їхню копію в папці Backups поруч, усередині власної папки застосунку (на iPhone — власного сховища), щоб перша синхронізація нічого не втратила. Копія лишається там, доки ви її не видалите або не видалите застосунок.

Що збирає розробник

Нічого. У Finance немає аналітики, реклами, стеження та стороннього коду, який кудись надсилає дані.

Коли застосунок користується мережею

  • iCloud — щоб дані були однакові на вашому Mac та iPhone.
  • Курси валют: якщо якийсь рахунок у валюті, відмінній від вашої основної (Параметри → «Основна валюта»), застосунок завантажує загальнодоступний перелік офіційних курсів Національного банку України (bank.gov.ua). Якщо він недоступний або не містить валюти, якою ви користуєтеся, застосунок звертається до загальнодоступного переліку курсів Monobank (api.monobank.ua). Застосунок не підключається до ваших банківських рахунків. Запит не містить нічого про вас чи ваші дані. Як і будь-який сайт, сервер бачить IP-адресу, з якої надійшов запит.

Контакти

До операції можна додати людину. Ви вибираєте її в системному вікні вибору контактів, і застосунок зберігає імʼя людини та посилання на її картку у ваших Контактах разом із операцією (там само, де й решту ваших даних). На Mac, якщо ви дозволите доступ до Контактів, застосунок показуватиме фото людей, яких ви додали; більше нічого він не читає. Застосунок для iPhone читає лише те, що ви вибрали у вікні вибору, і доступу до Контактів не просить. Нічого з Контактів він не надсилає ні розробникові, ні будь-кому іншому.

Файли

Застосунок читає лише ті файли, які ви вибрали (чек, зображення), і записує лише туди, куди ви вказали (експорт, резервна копія), — окрім однієї копії, описаної вище, яка лежить у власній папці застосунку.

Видалення даних

Видаляйте операції, рахунки й категорії в застосунку — вони зникають і з вашої бази iCloud. Копія, зроблена перед першою синхронізацією з iCloud, так не зникає: вона лежить у папці застосунку (~/Library/Containers/com.ivandakhin.Finance/Data/Library/Application Support/Backups), і її можна видалити у Finder. Щоб видалити все на Mac, видаліть застосунок і цю папку (~/Library/Containers/com.ivandakhin.Finance), а в Системних параметрах → Apple Account → iCloud → «Керувати» видаліть дані Finance. На iPhone видалення застосунку прибирає все, що в ньому зберігається, разом із копією; дані в iCloud видаляються в Параметрах → ваше імʼя → iCloud → «Керувати сховищем облікового запису».

Діти

Застосунок не збирає даних ні від кого, зокрема від дітей.
